bodies are scary and fragile
and honestly we know so little
in this society: there is no room
for bodies to be
as imperfect as they are.

it's overwhelming
and exhausting
to figure out "how am i
going to deal with this
and whatever else
it brings?"

day after
day after
day, after
this, and
still that,
and something
else, always
something new

to deal with.

how? when? why?
can i? should i?
do i have to?
and if i don't?

no, i don't wish this
on anyone. but if we
must, if we shall,
let us be

so so so damn glad
to scream, to cry,
to swear, to gripe,
to celebrate,
to commiserate;

to gather

together

we don't have to
do it alone.

and yes,
sometimes
it will still feel
wildly lonely
infinitely isolating

because it is
it very much
is
(not all)
is
(this forever)
is
(too much)

but what about us: here
each, near, hoping
helping, in the small
way of being an ear
on the other side
of a screen, listening

and did you know?
when i recite my litany
of face-name-reasons
to keep going: there

you are.
